The artist’s enigmatic pseudonym has existed in media for quite some time now. He’s a true Renaissance man for the modern age, turning every project into gold. An artist with an extraordinary musical sensibility, with a real knack for coming up with songs that will captivate audiences. Tribbs will definitely get you on the dance floor – and certainly not for the last time!

Who is Tribbs and what does he do?

Tribbs, whose real name is Mikołaj Trybulec, is a 27-year-old composer, producer, and arranger. He also plays the bass guitar, works as a DJ, and has taken classes in both violin and guitar. What sets him apart is his talent as a lyricist. He has been involved with music since the age of 14, starting out as a session musician. Even then, he began collaborating with well-known artists such as Sound N’ Grace and Natalia Szroeder. He hasn’t always created music solely for others – in 2017, together with Monika Wydrzyńska, he founded the band Linia Nocna, which blends alternative, pop and electronic sounds. However, it was his compositions created in collaboration with other artists that became his gateway to international recognition.

A fresh take on Polish classics

The year 2021 was a breakthrough for Tribbs. That’s when he produced Smolasty’s biggest hit “Duże oczy” (“Big Eyes”), which reached 111 million views on YouTube and 2 million listeners on Spotify. He also remixed a song that belongs to the canon of Polish popular music – “Bal wszystkich świętych” (“All Saints’ Ball”) by Budka Suflera – a version that won over listeners, even those skeptical about modern arrangements of old hits.

In 2022, together with rapper Kubańczyk, he created a modern remix of the must-play dance classic – Krzysztof Krawczyk’s “Ostatni raz zatańczysz ze mną” (“Dance with Me for the Last Time”). The track conquered radio stations and broke records in terms of streams on music platforms.

This wasn’t the last song Tribbs rearranged – he has also refreshed “Bad Touch” by Bloodhound Gang and recorded a cover of “Krakowski Spleen” by Maanam. Another fun fact: Tribbs is also the producer of “Głowy do góry” by Małe TDG, a track that went viral on TikTok.

Tribbs and Eurovision

What may come as a surprise is that Tribbs has been arranging songs for the Eurovision stage for quite some time – and not only for Polish representatives. His Eurovision debut came in 2019, when he co-wrote “Friend of the Friend” for the Czech entrants Lake Malawi. He also co-created “Universo” for Spain’s Blas Cantó in 2020, as well as “Amen” for Austria’s Vincent Bueno in 2021.

In 2022, he represented his home country as one of the co-creators of Krystian Ochman’s “River.” This year, Tribbs appeared at Eurovision representing two countries at once: he was one of the creators behind Poland’s entry “Solo” by Blanka, and he also wrote the lyrics for “Watergun” by Remo Forrer, Switzerland’s entry.

In addition, he collaborates with artists who have already had their turn on the Eurovision stage, such as Duncan Laurence and Gjon’s Tears.

Tribbs on Social Media

Fans can follow the artist on his social media profiles. He is very active on Instagram, where he has as many as 67.3 thousand followers. Tribbs is also popular on TikTok, with nearly 407 thousand followers. On his platforms, he shares new musical “teasers” as well as giving a glimpse into his personal life.

In 2022, he gained attention for remixing a TikTok song about the beach in Stegna, originally recorded by user Sarusia55. After the TikToker officially transferred the copyright and property rights to him, Tribbs declared that if the track was officially released, he would pass on all earnings to Sarusia and also help her register the song with ZAiKS (the Polish Society of Authors and Composers).

Tribbs is not just a hitmaker who churns out songs. He’s a truly multi-talented person with a natural flair for entrepreneurship. He doesn’t take himself too seriously and shows that it’s fun to make music. You could even make a hit on a Polish – or global – scale! It’s worth keeping an eye on the artist’s work – what will he surprise us with next?
