Beginnings
Roksana Emilia Węgiel-Mglej, also known as Roxie and Roxie Węgiel, was born on 11 of January 2005 in beautiful Jasło. Although she’s quite new to the music scene, her talent, charisma, and determination quickly gained attention both in Poland and abroad.
Roksana has shown her love for music ever since she was a little girl. Her passion turned into a professional career when she participated in the first edition of The Voice Kids in 2018. That’s when her voice and charisma won the hearts of the audience and, consequently, guaranteed her win. That event began her journey through the peaks of fame.
Triumph at Eurovision and international popularity
21 of September 2018 was a beginning of a historic moment in Polish music, that’s when TVP announced that Roksana Węgiel will represent Poland in the 16th Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk. Her moving performance of “Anyone I Want to Be” charmed the audience and won the hearts of the viewers and the appreciation of the jury. That was only a beginning of a series of triumphs which marked the beginning of the singer’s career.
In the same year Roksana took a stab at fashion design. Her clothing line, „Roxie”, created in collaboration with the brand Reporter Young was loved by many fashion lovers and proved Roksana to be an artist of many talents, who can express herself not only through music, but also through other art forms.
In October of the same year Roksana made another breakthrough in her career. She released „Zatrzymać chwilę” – a single featuring legendary Edyta Górniak, which was recorded to promote “Hotel Transylvania 3”. This duet was another proof of the singer’s versatility and her ability to push the boundaries of music genres and artistic challenges.
Roksana is not only a talented singer, but a versatile artist. She has shown that by participating in the third edition of a dance programme Dance Dance Dance in 2021. Her flexibility, grace, and expression once again made her a fan favourite and she won another trophy.
Roksana’s undeniable talent is appreciated not only by her fans, but also the industry. In 2019 she won the MTV Europe Music Award for the best Polish singer. This prestigious award showed that Roksana had an impact on international music scene.
Authenticity and artistic versatility
Roksana is not only a singer, but she also writes her lyrics and composes, which allows her to express herself in an authentic and personal way. Her songs talk about issues that are close to the young generation and her voice is becoming a symbol of their experiences, hopes, and dreams.
Despite her many achievements, Roksana is still humble and full of passion. Her great talent is undeniable, but it’s her humility, commitment, and love for music that inspire many young people not only in Poland, but also in other countries. Her journey shows that dreams can come true as long as one has enough determination and confidence.
In spring of 2024 Roksana Węgiel has once again shown her versatility and artistic abilities when she participated in the 14th edition of “Dancing with the Stars. Taniec z gwiazdami”. Her partnership with Michał Kassin created many breathtaking performances and the pair won 2nd place – another milestone in Węgiel’s career. Her participation in the show has proven that Roksana isn’t just a great singer, but a versatile artist, ready to take on any challenge and gain the love of the audience in different types of artistic expression.
