After three years since her last album, Patrycja Markowska comes back with a new project. Obłęd is her tenth album – mature, personal and slightly different from the previous ones. Will the new material meet fans’ expectations and show the artist in a new light, without losing her characteristic sound?

Patrycja Markowska, Obłęd –career

Patrycja Markowska, a vocalist with twenty-five years of musical experience, released Obłęd – her tenth music album, on May 9, 2025. Her former projects brought her popularity, placing her among the top Polish artists.

Patrycja Markowska’s previous albums were very successful, repeatedly achieving gold and platinum statuses. For example, 2007’s Świat się pomylił, one of her most popular albums, achieved platinum status for selling over fifty thousand copies. The album includes hits such as: ‘Świat się pomylił’, ‘Jeszcze raz’ and ‘Kilka prostych prawd’. The live performance of one of these songs won her a first prize in the Premiery competition at the 44th National Polish Song Festival in Opole.

Patrycja Markowska: Obłęd

Patrycja Markowska, is known not only for her brilliant voice, but also for her enormous charisma – both on- and off-stage. This feature drawn a large group of loyal fans who are constantly waiting for her new musical projects. Fortunately, her portfolio is full of good music, and she is releasing a new album just three years after the previous one, Wilczy pęd.

The aforementioned charisma has also contributed to the development of her media activity. One of Markowska’s most important TV presences was in the show The Voice of Poland. The artist was a coach in the second (2013) and ninth (2018) editions of the program. In the latter, thanks to her commitment, her mentee, Marcin Sójka, won the competition, defeating many talented rivals.

The abovementioned events are only a small part of Patrycja Markowska’s artistic achievements. Her stage experience to date raises the bar high for her latest album. Will they prove to be a blessing or a curse? Will the new project satisfy the appetite of fans hungry for good music?

Patrycja Markowska, Obłęd – album review

Patrycja Markowska’s latest album, Obłęd, was released on May 9, 2025. It consists of eleven songs in pop and rock-pop style. As the artist herself states, the album differs from her previous projects – there are more electronic, abstract and contemporary sounds on it.

This description impacts the imagination, but Obłęd is not an electronic-science fiction kind of album. The listener gets a distinct impression of difference comparing to Markowska’s former projects, but is not detached from reality. Obłęd is a slightly different Patrycja Markowska but with an equally characteristic, strong vocal, supported by guitars that we all know and love. These instruments complement the songs well, introducing a breath of fresh air, while maintaining the artist’s identity.

Patrycja Markowska – Obłęd

I rate the sound of the album very positively. The listener should not feel disappointed by any of the songs – all are melodic, and the musical backgrounds accurately reflect the mood of the individual compositions. In terms of sound, the album is diverse – some songs are joyful, dynamic, at times close to disco style, while others are peaceful and melancholic. Despite this diversity, the album maintains coherence – the whole is well-thought-out, interesting and not monotonous. The variety of sounds, often new in Markowska’s oeuvre, makes Obłęd original and fresh. Patrycja Markowska is not only a talented vocalist, but also actively participates in the creative process as a songwriter. In the case of Obłęd, she also presents a high level in this aspect. The lyrics, as usual, are thoughtful and moving – they touch difficult, deep topics. They take up such issues as love as a building and destructive force, both spiritual and physical, the internal struggle with fate, with oneself, with misunderstanding – and many more.

The lyrics are also very good from a technical perspective – the listener will find interesting stylistic devices, metaphors that add depth and ambiguity to the songs. These are lyrics that not only sound good, but also encourage reflection.

Markowska pleased her fans not only by releasing an album of high musical quality, but also by publishing three music videos – for the songs ‘Obłęd’, ‘Miłość, Wiara, Nadzieja’ and ‘Karminowy’. Each of them looks really good – one can see that a lot of resources, time, work and artistic commitment were put into their production. The videos are well-thought-out, consistent with the lyrics, and perfectly emphasize their emotional message.

Opinion about the album

Obłęd seems to be a very successful project. From Patrycja Markowska’s statement, we can conclude that this album is particularly important to her personally. In an interview for Radio Jedynka, the artist said the following about the album:

I was waiting for such an album, but it could only be created at this time, with the maturity that I have, when I was carried by great feelings and new musical inspirations.

In terms of music, the final effect looks really good. At this stage, it is difficult to assess whether the album will be a commercial success comparable to her previous projects, but from a purely musical point of view – it is good that Obłęd has been released.

Listeners should not feel disappointed – they received what they love most about Patrycja Markowska’s music: a beautiful, characteristic voice, this time presented in a slightly refreshed, but unobtrusive form.

All this means that this album is definitely worth listening. It is very possible that after the first listen, one will feel like listening once more and more.
