Halina Frąckowiak is one of the greatest Polish artists – she’s a singer with an inimitable voice and a lyricist whose works have become a part of Polish music history. She was born on 10 of April 1947 in Poznań and has been dazzling audiences since the 60s.

She debuted in 1963 during Festiwal Młodych Talentów [Festival of Young Talents] in Szczecin. Her collaborations with bands such as Tony, Takty, and Tarpany resulted in many hit songs, which are listened to and appreciated by music lovers to this day. This includes songs like „Ktoś”, „Czekam tu”, „Napisz, proszę”, and „Za mną nie oglądaj się”.

Halina Frąckowiak is also a composer who does not shy away from experimenting with various genres, for example pop, rock, funk, soul, and jazz. She began her solo career in 1972 and since then she’s received many awards, including the Golden Microphone awarded by Polsko-Amerykańska Agencja Artystyczna [the Polish-American Artistic Agency].

Frąckowiak is not only known for her incredible voice, but also a wonderful ability to mix diverse genres. Her records, for example “Idę” (1974), “Geira” (1977) with SBB, or “Ogród Luizy” (1981) with Józef Skrzek, showcase an artistic versatility and a constant search for new forms of expression.

Frąckowiak didn’t only perform in Poland. Her talent was also appreciated abroad – she performed at festivals in Ostend, Rostock, and Dresden. Receiving the Golden Microphone award confirmed her status as one of the most influential figures in the Polish music industry.

In 1990 the singer was in a serious car crash, but despite difficulties Halina Frąckowiak didn’t give up and came back to the stage after a long recovery, continuing her love for music.

She was a coach in the 5th edition of The Voice Senior and once again has conquered the hearts of Polish viewers. The final took place in March 2024 and the winner –  Regina Rosłaniec Bavcevic was in Frąckowiak’s team. The coaches that also participated in that edition were Maryla Rodowicz, Alicja Węgorzewska, and Tomasz Szczepanik from the band Pectus.

Halina Frąckowiak’s works can be described as diverse, experimental and multi-genre, which shows her artistic versatility. Her solo albums are regarded as classic examples of mixing pop with elements of jazz, funk, and rock.

“Geira”, recorded with the band SBB, is often identified as one of her most innovative works, which blends progressive pop with jazz-funk and sung poetry. “Halina Frąckowiak” (1987) is an example of mature pop, which was appreciated by both fans and music critics. Compilations such as “Złota kolekcja: Mały Elf” (2000) and “Jubileusz. 50 piosenek na 50-lecie” (2013) include her greatest hits and showcase her influence on Polish music and the ability to create timeless songs.

The singer’s contribution into Polish culture has been acknowledged many times, she’s received the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Gloria Artis Medal for Merit to Culture for the 60th anniversary of her artistic debut. Halina Frąckowiak keeps inspiring next generations of artists and her music is still popular among Polish and international audiences.
