Daj to głośniej – the group’s history. I made it louder – now my neighbors knock on my door and want to join the party

“Mama ostrzegała”, with over 215 million views, is the third most popular song in Polish on YouTube. A charismatic vocalist, good sense of humor, or high-quality music – what is the reason for their success?

Daj to głośniej – History (Volume: 0%)

Daj to głośniej is a group that makes music in the disco polo genre, focusing on folk elements. DTG was formed on 1st of January 2019 in Syców, which is the hometown of the group’s vocalist and leader – Emilia Sanecka. Emilia is a talented singer who brilliantly handles managing the group, the huge numbers that her songs bring only confirm that.

We were able to listen to Daj to głośniej for the first time in 2019 in the 7th edition of Disco Star – the most popular competition for the disco polo genre. The first episodes aired in March and the final – which DTG were a part of – took place on 25th of May. Thanks to Sanecka’s powerful voice and unique style the group placed second. It was their first triumph, but it pales in comparison to what came next…

The group officially debuted on 26th of May 2019 with the song Mama ostrzegała, which became a massive hit, gaining millions of views. Until their next release Sanecka had to answer the question “When will you release another hit?” in every interview. She had to answer that question for quite a while, as their next song, titled Dobrze, was published on 13th of February 2020.

They continued to release music over the following years. Although none of it reached the same level of success as Mama ostrzegała, millions of Polish people still listen to their songs, even the older ones. In 2020 Sanecka participated in the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest and in 2021 DTG released an album titled Folk Disco.

Daj to głośniej – The most popular song (Volume: 40%)

Daj to głośniej’s most popular song is definitely Mama ostrzegała. Its numbers are amazing – 23 million on Spotify, 215 million on YouTube, and the title of the third most viewed music video of a song in Polish in the history of Polish music. Many dream of such results. Other than DTG only Sławomir and Ronnie Ferrari were able to reach that level of success. Daj to głośniej managed to achieve that with their debut – astonishing, isn’t it?

Mam ostrzegała – the hit song has over 200 million views

In an interview for Disco-Polo.info Emilia Sanecka confessed that the video for Mama ostrzegała reached 100 views an hour after its release and the whole group was so happy that they were literally jumping on their beds. They didn’t expect it to have million times more views within five years. In the same interview the singer said this about the song:

It took about a month, when it (“Mama ostrzegała”) started to go around YouTube in a flash, that’s when we thought that it might be happening right here, right now. That it’s going to be a hit” – extract from the interview for Disco-Polo.info.

Daj to głośniej – Music (Volume: 60%)

In 2021 the group released their long-awaited album. Folk Disco consists of nineteen songs. Looking at the success of Mama ostrzegała, one might think of the term One Hit Woner. DTG must have been afraid of that before releasing their next songs. Their album has proven that they can make music on the same level as their biggest hit. Although none of their later songs reached the same level as Mama ostrzegała, many of them are hits with millions of views. Zwariowana noc reached 25 million views, Wesele w Dubaju 24 million, Andrzej łajdaku 21 million – these are only their 3 most popular songs after the biggest one. Even incredibly famous artists might have trouble with reaching such high numbers.

“Będę pijana” a.k.a “Wesele w Dubaju”

The group has released twenty music videos, which combined have over 410 million views on YouTube. It’s worth noting that they are high-quality productions. All of them were recorded with great cameras, they were directed in an interesting way, and professionally edited. Additionally, their videos are often funny, which underlines the lightheartedness of disco polo and pokes fun at treating this genre too seriously. Sanecka herself has stated many times that she treats disco polo as something she can dance to and have fun with, without analyzing the lyrics and looking for a deeper meaning. When one listens to DTG it’s obvious that they understand the genre well and, in combination with their talent, they turn that into great numbers.

Daj to głośniej – Present day (Volume: 100%)

The band is aware if their huge fame. It seems that they strive to ride the wave of their success, as they continue to tour and release other hits. In 2024 they’ve published two songs. Ze wsi dziewczyna has over 6 million views on YouTube, and Pilnie oddam gruz over 5 million. These figures are objectively great and DTG should be proud of themselves.

Other than making music, DTG play a lot of concerts. During the summer of 2024 they played a few gigs a week. The group uses their potential to the max. I don’t think even their mom could have warned them about such levels of success.

The speakers have exploded.
