Piotr Rubik since his childhood, knew that his passion is composing. Love for the music was ignited in him by his grandfather – amateur of violin play, and vinyl collector. As it turned out, the love was a reciprocated feeling, what is proven by the great oratorio Tu es Petrus or Psałterz Wrześniowy (The September Psalter). Those pieces gained approval among listeners and came with huge popularity. Adored by ones, criticized by the others – Piotr Rubik stays unquestionable king of big instrumental – vocal forms.

Music education of Piotr Rubik

Piotr Rubik (born 3rd of September 1968 in Warsaw) – polish musician, composer, violinist, music producer and television host. His mom worked on production of radio broadcasts; his father was a pilot in the army. Just in the kindergarten, Piotr showed extraordinary for his age interest with music, especially playing piano. Parents decided to consult this with a music school. Parents suspicions turned out to be true, and he got into Podstawowa Szkoła Muzyczna im. Emila Młynarskiego (Music Primary School), in cello class of Professor Jerzy Ługiewicz. Instead of playing with colleagues, little Piotr practiced instrument playing for hours.

His musical education was continued in Licuem Ogólnokszałcące im. Karola Szymanowskiego in Warsaw (High school). He was a student of Professor Andrzej Zieliński, who mentored him until his graduation at the Akademia Muzyczna im. Fryderyka Chopina (Musical Academy), in Warsaw. He was in the same class as Polish vocalist Anna Maria Jopek or pianist Piotr Anderszewski. After finishing the studies, as an outright violinist, he cooperated with popular orchestras, such as: Simfonia Varsovia or Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra. He also took courses on film music composing in Sienna, conducted among others by Ennio Morricone.  Over cello Piotr Rubik’s favorite instrument was piano.

Career

Piotr Rubik always knew that he doesn’t want to be only a performer, but first of all, creator of the music – that’s how his journey with music composing and production began. As a music producer he made over thirty albums, including ones for Georgina Tarasiuk, Katarzyna Skrzynecka or Michał Bajor. For the first major composing success is considered music made for Edyta Górniak, to the lyrics of the song Dotyk, or the Dove Vai promoting the movie Quo Vadis by Jerzy Kawalerowicz. Piotr also created music scores for the productions, a.o. Pajęczarki (1993), Ryś (2007) or classic Ja wam pokażę (2006). Rubik is also author of the television jingles for, among others, intro to Wiadomości (The News) or Tomasz Lis na żywo. He is also responsible for Polskie Radio (Polish Radio) musical frame.

But the biggest popularity came with huge instrumental – vocal forms such as oratorio Tu es Petrus or Psałterz wrześniowy. The hits form those productions – Niech mówią, że to nie jest miłość (the title of the song of the century according to Radio Zet) or Psalm dla ciebie, for a long time have been on the top of the lists. Piotr Rubik’s albums have been selling in hundreds of thousands of copies. Composer is also a winner of many awards, including First Place at the Festiwal Jedynki w Sopocie in 2005, SuperJedynka for the album of the year and SuperJedynka for the most popular artist in 2006. Musician achieved also many more honors.

Piotr Rubik nowadays

Musician nowadays with his whole family, lives in United States. In new living place artist counts on broadening his musical – carrier horizons and gaining new experiences. Moving out doesn’t equal giving up with concerts – quite the opposite. At the turn of winter and the spring, one may take part in Piotr Rubik’s concerts in many Polish cities. Full schedule seems to confirm his words, because as he says: he is happy person, who does what he loves.
